A ‘Planting’ is an area where trees have been planted for non-production purposes. Examples of ‘non-production’ purposes include carbon sequestration and habitat rehabilitation projects.

You create a new Planting instance in the same way as any other enterprise, however because planting is a fixed point in time, there is no end date calculated.

After creating a new Planting instance, you will be shown a form where you can add more details:

• The region of the state the property is in
• The species of tree planted: Note that the options change depending on the chosen region
• The type of soil at the planting site: Note that the options change depending on the chosen region
• The average age of the trees that were planted
• The number of trees planted per hectare

Planting areas

The ‘Planting areas’ tab is where the area planted is defined. Currently this is a single input field where the planting area in hectares can be entered.

In later versions of the software you will be able to use the map to define planting areas, and the area will be automatically calculated.
